Rehema Zuberi and Patrick Lavince (both Affiliate Writers of Writers Guild Kenya), last week scooped major awards at the recently concluded Kenyatta University Students Association Awards. Rehema was recognized as the most Gifted Blogger and Patrick Lavince as the Poet of the Year, 2018. These awards are given to exceptional personalities who have shown unique abilities in their areas of passion and upon evaluating the relevance of their forms of expression in addressing the needs of humanity.
Patrick is truly a gifted poet, owing even to his famously known pen name; The Gifted Pen. His collection of sensational and contemporary poems, ‘The Lust of My ink”, was published and launched in February by Writers Guild Kenya. The book is available at The Writers Centre or through Patrick Lavince. Patrick has also taken the journey to mentor other writers and other poets whose focus are to change different perceptions of humanity on neglected issues.
Rehema, is surely a gifted blogger. With consistency and persistence of a star, she keeps updating and addressing different issues through her blog: https://reshonlineblog.wordpress.com/
In handing over the award to the two winners, Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. K Wainaina, acknowledged the part which art plays in shaping the views of society. “I encourage you to keep shaping the views of the world through art.’ He concluded.
Writers Guild Kenya congratulates you Patrick Lavince and Rehema Zuberi. Let’s keep trying.
